With the Usual Flair, KSearch Welcomes 2014

True to its tradition, the KSearch folks last 27th December clicked their bubbly wine-filled glasses in a toast to welcome the new year.  True to form, the creative juices “runneth over” anew in KSearch to give drama to the occasion and voila, a transformed boardroom greeted us in what was crafted  to be a Casino Royale motif – complete with alternating dim and sparkling lights, creating an expectant mood for excitement.  In one corner of the room was a miniature Roulette Table where the small dice would point you to a particular drink.  In another corner was a chocolate fountain, oozing continuously with it delightful offering.  Yet in another corner were the wine glasses all set up for the red wine bottles for the evening.

Surprises galore permeated the evening. The unveiling of the photo booth jump-started the event.  Practice Teams alternated to have their group photos taken, mostly in wacky poses.  An award was given to the best photo, the first in what was to pave the way for more such secretive awards.  Then the One Minute of Fame was announced, calling for selected names to demonstrate a special talent within a minute. Well, for some it might as well be a One Minute of Shame, it turned out.  But they were all done in fun, in any case. Then came the  recognition for those that could create the loudest noise with improvised hand-held implements.

As a tradition, each KSearch employee would stand in front of everyone and give a new year’s message.  This year, instead of the usual individual messages, each one was given a piece of paper where he or she could write a message.  A pre-ordained panel chose  the “Best Message of the year” based on how brief and meaningful the person was able to express his or her thoughts.  The KSearch’s Managing Director, Manuel Guillermo or MRG, gave a short prepared message, thanking all in KSearch for their valuable  contribution in 2013 , while also urging everyone to keep the torch of passion afire through what we expect to be an even more challenging year.

MRG thanked the HR/Sales & Marketing/IT Practice Group for hosting this year’s toast.

2013 was challenging as it was fulfilling. It was also a great time and place for us so-called “newbies” to be welcomed and thoroughly accepted as part of the KSearch family and earn the privilege of participating in  KSearch’s way of celebrating Christmas and New Year.  What a unique culture, I’d say! I have witnessed the rich and dynamic culture that it has and I think it’s what makes us stand out.  I have myself learned that one’s attitude in doing things defines the success of its outcome and that there is no such thing as difficult tasks; it’s a matter of how you look at things.  It is fitting perhaps to share a quotation from the revered Dalai Lama thus: “It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short and the long term for both yourself and others will come.”

Cheers everyone!
